About Me
|
Hi, my name is Jared Currie. I am currently a Sophomore Psychology major, as well as a Media Scholar here at the University of Maryland, College Park. You can contact me at [email protected]. For some quick background, I'm from New Jersey and attended a Catholic high school. I've always wanted to pursue a career where I can help other people, and my personal experience with psychology and therapy put me on that path. I came to the University of Maryland to pursue not just career and educational growth, but personal and social, as well. My hometown was small, and ultimately a bubble that was holding me back from everything that the world had to offer. I've experienced so many new things and met so many amazing people that the experience has been worth it, and I'm not even halfway done yet. One thing that has been a unique experience is Media Scholars. I joined at first because I was really interested in the program and thought it could provide a different perspective to my college experience. I wanted a greater understanding of the role media can play in our everyday lives, both personally and in society. So far, I have got that and more. I have seen a multitude of people who have been in the same situation I am and parlayed it into incredible jobs, a goal I wish to accomplish after my time as a Media Scholar has ended. More than anything, however, I want to have an unforgettable experience and learn more about some of the most crucial aspects of life today: understanding media, ourselves, and society.
